Cody G. Reedman is an experienced bankruptcy and insolvency lawyer and litigator having articled to Murray K. Morrison at Morrison & Co. Law Corporation, a senior and well respected bankruptcy and insolvency lawyer in the lower mainland. Early in his career, Cody maintained a busy general civil litigation practice and some solicitors’ work involving estate planning and corporate-commercial law during his formative years before starting his own law firm in his third year of practice.
His preferred practice involves litigation including insolvency and restructuring law, complex personal bankruptcy matters, employment law, commercial litigation, civil fraud, foreclosure law, fraudulent conveyance and preference litigation, regulatory defense and investigations, securities and estate litigation. In addition, he acts as external general counsel for a limited number of individuals and businesses.
Cody’s clients include individuals, business owners, directors, investors, regulated professionals, small and medium sized businesses, receivers, Trustees in Bankruptcy (Licensed Insolvency Trustees), executors and beneficiaries.
Cody has appeared and advocated before the BC Supreme Court, BC Court of Appeal, BC Provincial Court, Alberta Court of King's Bench, Manitoba Court of King's Bench, Supreme Court of Yukon, Tax Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada and various administrative tribunals including the BC Farm Industry Review Board, BC Securities Commission, Human Rights Tribunal, Residential Tenancy Branch and Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal. In addition to appearing on hundreds of applications to court for bankruptcy discharge applications, he acted as lead appellant's counsel on two Supreme Court of Canada matters involving bankruptcy and insolvency law.
He is admitted practice law in British Columbia, Alberta, and Yukon Territory.
Outside of work, Cody is happily married, an avid traveller, a coffee aficionado. He also enjoys reading dystopian novels, white collar crime, existential philosophy and business books.
